Welcome to Market Season!

The first week in June marks the beginning of the farmer’s market season and we are still hammering out some details on where we’ll be setting up. Right now we plan to alternate between Cologne and Norwood Markets and attend the Waconia market every week.

On TUESDAYS - Cologne Market from 3-6pm. BearCountryBlooms is proud to bring organic produce, locally grown flowers, artisan sourdough and our signature salsa to this new market. Look for the tents on the Cologne Academy side of town by the city offices. Our dates: 6/2, 6/16, 7/21, 8/4, 8/18

On WEDNESDAYS - Heritage Shopping Center (otherwise known as the Alli B’s parking lot) at 640 Railroad Dr. Norwood. This is the same spot the Bongard’s Market moved to in 2024. We have been a vendor at this market for six years now and feel honored to be a part of this community event that brings people together every week over the love of fresh food and friendship. Our dates: 6/10, 6/24, 7/29, 8/12, 8/26

On THURSDAYS - Waconia Farmer’s Market in the parking lot at 224 First Street S (across from Freshwater Church) starting Thursday, June 5 and will run every Thursday, 4-7 p.m. through Sept. 25. This will be a BIG market and we’re excited to a part of it. There is something so special about being able to meet the farmer who grows your food and the baker who bakes your bread. No market held on July 2nd, August 6th, or Sept. 3rd.

Helpful details:

  • We accept cash, venmo and credit cards

  • The markets are open rain or shine. Lightening on the other hand will have us all scrambling for shelter.

  • Our veggie plants are certified organic and are grown in soil that has been pesticide and herbicide free for the 10 years we’ve owned our property.

  • Most produce takes a minimum of sixty days to be ready to harvest so watch for our vegetables to show up around the end of July. We’ll be harvesting honeyberries and strawberries in June to make our bumbleberry jelly as well strawberry rhubarb. Salsa comes on strong in August. We have a waiting list for our salsa so ask to be put on that list if you know you want to buy some. Batches can be sold out before they even make it to a market despite having 80+ tomato plants.

Our baked goods are always under 24 hours old when you buy them from us. So how do we bake SO much in such a short amount of time? Great question! You can learn more on our 4MamaBearMade Sourdough page, but the fact of the matter is, we have multiple ovens and I don’t sleep very much. Elsa (our youngest) has been helping at the markets since she was in 3rd grade and is a Godsend in the kitchen and at our booth.

  • Our breads are sometimes not sealed shut to let steam escape and avoid condensation if they are still warm from the oven. You’ll be able to fold down the bag after the bread adjusts to room temp. We hold a cottage food registration from the Department of Agriculture and take food safety very seriously. We use gloves when packaging baked goods and make every effort to keep flavors from mingling. Bread is packaged at the last minute and is kept out of reach of anyone who isn’t wearing gloves.

  • When we begin selling from our food trailer this season it will not change what type of food we are allowed to sell. Our menu will be constrained by MN Cottage Food Laws. We are not upgrading to a food handler’s license because that requires a commercial kitchen set up and we are all set up in our home for baking in bulk. Moving to a commercial kitchen would greatly increase our overhead and we love working from home too much that we designed our trailer to meet our needs as a cottage food producer. Look at it like a massive tent upgrade.

  • Our bouquets are cut in the cool of the mornings/evenings/ to avoid stressing the flowers. They are placed in a special conditioning fluid for processing, but the best thing you can do is to change the water daily and trim the stems every few days. Each bouquet comes with care instructions on the back of the tag.

Check back if you don’t see a live link at first. Orders need to be picked up by 5pm at whichever market you designate in your order unless we’ve made special arrangements for you. Pick up IS possible at our home in Young America so don’t hesitate to reach out if that is a better fit for you. Pre-payment is encouraged but is not required. There will be a special line at our booth for pre-order pick ups at each market location. Look for that when you arrive to save time waiting in the main line. If you want to get a weekly reminder email so you don’t miss the 3pm Sunday deadline to pre-order sign up here.
